Medieval Archery Birthday party (for ages 7+)

Medieval music - artist/s unknown

Forget clowns, bowling, bouncy castles and all the usual birthday party activities.
Have something original and exciting!

Our medieval archery birthday parties for group size of 10 plus are great for ages 7 upwards.
As with all our archery birthday parties, we are mobile, fully equipped and insured, and most of all we don't mind wearing silly clothes!

We will keep the children (minimum age is 8 - no maximum age!) busy for a FULL 2 HOURS
of non-stop medieval archery birthday party fun. If we don't, you can put us in the stocks! (we haven't been put in yet)

Check out the medieval equipment. Handle weapons, arrows, bows, armour and learn about medieval life with our informative, but often gore, stories.

Our medieval archery birthday party can be held outdoors, although during the winter months (October-March) we would strongly recommend a hired hall (e.g. school, church, community centre, sports hall). The approximate size required is 20ft x 30ft.
All venues may require assessment and need to be hired for 4 hours
(1 hour set up, 2 hours party, 1 hour break down).

What will the children have a go at?
Archery
Quintain
Spear Training
Stocks
Sword Fighting
throwing Quoits

Shooting at our medieval mock castle with knight, princess & dragon! (using rubber blunted arrows for maximum safety)
Medieval jousting practice along the tilt
Learn the moves & control the spear against an advancing army (the other team or a hanging sack)
For those naughty peasants
Either against a hanging sack or controlled moves with us (never against each other!)
A very simple quick game of throwing the hoop over a post.

Rough guide to how the medieval archery birthday party will run
Most important is the safety talk!
Then it's straight into the Archery (longbows shooting at our castle in two teams)

After having some fun shooting we let the child have a break/rest from the action while we talk to
them about the life that we led in the medieval times and show them various weapons/clothing/armour
(chain mail, swords, arrows, spears etc. all blunted for safety). Should the birthday boy or girl wish to dress up in the armour during this point they are more than welcome - it is also an excellent photo opportunity

At this stage the children will be amazed as we demonstrate some sword fighting
(for safety reasons children can’t do this – but is great fun to watch!)

It's then back into the action with one team having a go at sword fighting with wooden swords (wasters) against a hanging sack - not each other!) while the other team charges at the Quintain.
They of course then swap over.

Both teams are brought back together to have a go at a medieval style crossbow
This is followed by each of them being placed in the stock - only for a laugh
(unless you cross our palms with gold!)

If we have any spare time the children can then choose which activity they would like to do again.
At the end of the medieval party each child is “Knighted” and is presented with a scroll to remember the party. The birthday persons scroll will be personalised with their name.
