RS Archery - About Us

About us

RS Archery is a family-run archery company, with a policy of giving participants fun and entertainment while keeping safety a top priority.
It is jointly owned by Steven and Rebekah Davies (husband and wife) and was founded in back the spring of 2003.

RS Archery is a new, forward thinking, company in what is an ancient sport/past time even way of life.
With many years experience in the field of archery, we feel we are giving the world of archery a much needed boost with fresh ideas and energy.

Meet the RS Archery Team

Steven Davies

Steven started archery in 1989 at a small club called Boxmoor Bowmen where he learned the basics. He then moved on to larger club called Howard Bowmen, where Steven's archery skills grew with the help of various archery coaches.

In 1998 Steven decided to put something back into archery and qualified as a GNAS archery coach in March 2000. He later became the coach in charge of the junior section of the club, where they won several individual competitions and team leagues and were placed top club in Hertfordshire.

In his many years of archery Steven has had the chance to not only shoot, but own, several different types of bows from the modern Olympic style recurve, the English longbow, a medieval crossbow, an American compound bow (hunting) to a hill tribe hunting bow from Thailand .

Steven is also a active member of the Medieval Siege Society where he can be seen shooting the longbow at the enemy at their various events. He will be moving onto the spear & pole axe discipline in the 2009 season.

Rebekah Davies

Rebekah started archery in 1997 when she joined Howard Bowmen with her father Peter Ephgrave.
She started with the basic recurve style bow (which we teach with) and quickly progressed using a modern metal riser (handle) marksman bow.

Rebekah has excellent organisational skills and is a driving force behind some of the company's ideas and direction.

She has endless knowledge and ideas on entertaining children, much of which have come from being a parent to Rebekah and Steven's 3 wonderful daughters (the RS Archery owners of the future)?

Rebekah is also an active member of the Medieval Siege Society where she can be seen caring for the "injured" on the battle field.

Peter Ephgrave

Peter has been shooting since 1997. Also starting with the basic recurve style bow, he progressed on to a modern Samick bow.

Peter has a vast knowledge of both medieval history and weapons. He has even joined the Medieval Siege Society and can be seen "attacking the enemy" in their displays around the larger castles in the UK .

Peter's love is for the English longbow (at present he owns six or more from Victorian to new) and make medieval swords & weapons some of which can be seen at the medieval birthday parties. He has also helped make our flat bows, crossbows and several items of medieval clothing.

Rachel Davenport

Rachel is the new member of the team. She has been shooting since 1999, she started with basic training on the recurve bow and quickly progressed on to a compound bow (a very accurate bow). Her other archery love is the traditional longbow. Rachel qualified as a GNAS Archery Leader in March 2009

Rachel is on the mini med's birthday parties team which from her previous experience at a children's nursery certainly helps to kept the children amused. Plus with her horse riding past she can demonstrate how to charge at the quintain on the hobby horse.

She can also be seen with the Medieval Siege Society where she fights as a man (we call her Bob!) with the spear, poleaxe & sword - and beats many a larger opponent.
